About Us

Shogren Canonical was established to meet the growing need in the Catholic Church for qualified canon law advocates, for knowledgeable advice from a qualified canon lawyer, and for expert assistance in canon law processes. Being a private canon law practice, Shogren Canonical is able to provide independent canonical services in a flexible and efficient manner.

Two principles guide the work of Shogren Canonical. In the first place, as the final canon of the 1983 Code of Canon Law puts it, to have before our eyes the salvation of souls, which must always be the supreme law of the Church. The second is the disposition and orientation for any canonical undertaking – to search for the truth.

The Shogren Canonical logo, created by Sophia Shogren, is adapted from the Icon of the Regional Tribunal for Queensland. This inspiring work of iconographer Sr Josephine Marie, Sisters of Mary Morning Star, which is located in the Tribunal’s Brisbane office, speaks of the trust we have in Our Lady Help of Christians, who holds out to the world Jesus Christ - the measure (kanon) and merciful judge of all creation.

Our work is focused on Australia and New Zealand, but please make contact if you require our assistance and reside in another part of the English speaking world.

The office of Shogren Canonical is in the Brisbane CBD. The heritage listed building is just metres from the splendid Botanical Gardens and the Brisbane River.
